I will be delivering a series of creative sessions for ‘Arts on Prescription’ for those living with dementia in Lincoln and Louth from Jan-Feb 2017. Many thanks to project managers Cultural Solutions for their invitation to get involved in this great initiative http://www.culturalsolutions.co.uk/
Image below is of the first session in Louth on Saturday 7 January where an enthusiastic group worked on extreme cross stitch boards with accompanying extreme plastic needles! The activity is accessible to all abilities; beginners to the more experienced find the rhythm of stitching, making marks with brightly coloured yarn, helps reduce stress and anxiety and improves mental health and well being. Next session on Saturday 28 January at Trinity from 1-3pm when the group will be learning the techniques involved in making hand rolled felt.
Unfortunately 2 sessions, one in Lincoln and one in Louth, specifically for GP dementia referrals had to be cancelled due to lack of referrals – a great shame. Hopefully these sessions will build in numbers as the project continues.
