Lincs Artist Forum

I tend to do things on the spur of the moment…..like when I purchased a wood burning stove having only gone in for coffee!  The Lincs Artist Forum was set up in the same way.

In September 2011, I started a facebook group, invited artists to join and the rest just happened.   We now have over 70 online group members and many others who we contact directly via email.   The group has a wide variety of members; from craftspeople and professional artists covering all disciplines to local authority arts development officers, arts venue managers and arts consultants from right across the county and sometimes beyond it!

Our mission statement says we are: A forum of Lincolnshire creatives, offering an opportunity to support, inform and collaborate in innovative ways. The aim is to form a Social Enterprise to enable the forum to attract and develop funding and creative opportunities.

We are very pleased that we have secured a small amount of funding which has enabled us to pay for a mentor to take us through the social enterprise process and help us write our business plan, the lovely Jane Millum from EMPAF.   On 23  February we will be holding a meeting at Unique Cottage Studios in Spalding where Jane will deliver a presentation to group members and invite their comments.

Lots of exciting collaborations ahead with the help of the sometimes scary, but always invaluable, virtual web 2.0 community!

A pic of the aforementioned wood burner, I’m so proud…..got a free pair of big red gloves too.  It will be even better once they come and fit the chimney liner!
